NGICP receives ANAB Accreditation

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The National Green Infrastructure Certification Program (NGICP), which certifies entry level workers to construct, inspect and maintain green infrastructure, has received accreditation from the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). ANAB serves as an administrator and coordinator of the United States private sector voluntary standardization system.

“We are thrilled to see NGICP continue to grow,” said Jackie Jarrell, WEF President. “ANAB accreditation validates NGICP’s strength and expands its reach and recognition.”

NGICP is designed to help streamline the process of connecting qualified talent to in-demand jobs, support community-based job creation in U.S. cities, and establish national standards for professionals seeking to work on green infrastructure projects

Part of EnviroCert International Inc., NGICP has had more than 600 certificants and 15 licensees since its launch in 2016. To earn NGICP certification, applicants must pass an exam that tests knowledge of green infrastructure fundamentals, construction methods and maintenance procedures. The certification includes a requirement for regular re-certification.

ECI is working to develop virtual training so that certifications can continue safely during the coronavirus pandemic.
