Shyama Santiapillai holds a master’s in environmental science and management from Duquesne University. Her environmental career began with Air Compliance Consultants, Inc. working on air permitting and compliance. In 2014 she joined the oil and gas bureau of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP). As a water quality specialist with the PA DEP, her work involved ensuring compliance with state oil and gas rules and regulations. Work also included field inspections of oil and gas well sites and pipelines and investigation of spills and citizen’s complaints. Since 2019 she has been working as a contractor for CNX Resources Corporation. Her exposure to natural gas pipeline construction while contracting with CNX inspired her to pursue certification in erosion and sedimentation control. In 2020 she obtained her Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI) certification from EnviroCert International, Inc. Shyama is conscientious and dedicated to her professional work. In her free time she enjoys exploring the outdoors or strumming a tune on her guitar.
