NMSA is led by Dr. Seth Brown who has over 25 years of experience in the water sector that ranges from ground-level practical aspects of stormwater management design and analysis to national-level engagement with regulators, policy makers, and other national organizations. Seth is a nationally recognized leader in the MS4 sector who is a regular speaker at conferences and workshops around the country and the world. Dr. Brown is one of NMSA’s founders and has led the development and growth of the organization since its inception. In his role as Executive Director, he oversees all activities, supports the NMSA Board of Directors, manages the development of all products and tools, and represents NMSA in external engagements.
Seth has a Ph.D. in civil engineering from George Mason University with a research focus on socio-economic modeling of incentive-based investments of green stormwater infrastructure on private properties. Seth also teaches courses in Green Infrastructure Concepts and Application at the University of Maryland at Eastern Shore as well as co-teaches a graduate-level course titled Innovative Water Partnerships at Virginia Tech. Dr. Brown is an active consultant in the stormwater industry and holds a Professional Engineering license in the State of Maryland.
