Andrew Peach

Mr. Andrew Peach was appointed to the CPESC Certification Committee in March 2021. He holds a Master of Engineering Degree from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Mr. Peach lives in Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada and is a registered Professional Engineering Geologist in several Canadian provinces, a nationally certified Environmental Professional (EP), and is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC).

Mr. Peach is the Regional Geotechnical Leader for Hatch Ltd. in Atlantic Canada and has been providing engineering, geological, and environmental consulting services for hydroelectric, transportation, ports and terminals, and mining developments throughout Canada and internationally for over twenty-two (22) years. Mr. Peach has considerable experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and key areas of specialization include dam safety, open pit mining, slope stability assessments, erosion and sediment control, and designing and supervising geotechnical investigations for various types of construction projects and geohazard assessments. Mr. Peach has acted as a subject matter expert and expert witness for public hearings and legal proceedings requiring technical expertise related to slope stability, and embankment dam construction and seepage.

Mr. Peach has worked directly in the mining industry while employed with the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador City, NL. Mr. Peach was responsible for supervising various geotechnical projects related to the safe operation of the open pit mine, including pit wall scaling and rehabilitation. Mr. Peach was also responsible for completing technical inspections of the underground tunnel system, which required assessing the ground conditions along with the rock reinforcement and support. Mr. Peach was also a member of the Mine Closure and Planning Committee and responsible for providing technical advice for various geotechnical aspects of mine closure, as well as helping to incorporate progressive reclamation into current mine plans.

Mr. Peach is also an active member of the Canadian Geotechnical Society and is the Section Chair for Newfoundland & Labrador and Vice Chair of the Engineering Geology Division. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys fly fishing for Atlantic salmon.
